Prayer & Meditations

Below are some prayers we would like to share with you today:

Bless to me, O God, everything my eye shall see.
Bless to me, O God, everything my hand shall do.
Bless to me, O God, everything my brain shall think.
Bless to me, O God, the place and the equipment.
Bless to me, O God, the people we serve through our work.
Be in the interruptions and the setbacks.
Be in the eye of the person who is difficult.
Be in the eye of the person who is a delight.
         - Celtic Blessing

We must be the change we wish to see.

         - Mahatma Ghandi

The reason we don’t have peace is because the peace makers are not willing to sacrifice as much as those who make war.

         - Daniel Berrigan

So instead of loving what you think is peace, love other [people]
and love God above all.  And instead of hating the people you
think are warmongers, hate the appetites and the disorder in your
own soul, which are the causes of war.  If you love peace, then
hate injustice, hate tyranny, hate greed – but hate these things in
yourself, not in another.

            - Thomas Merton

There are two prayers:  Help me! Help me! Help me! and
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

            - Anne Lamott

If you walk toward Him, He comes to you running.

            - Rumi

I vow to offer joy to one person in the morning
and to help to relieve the grief of one
person in the afternoon.
I vow to live simply and sanely,
content with just a few possessions,
and to keep my body healthy.
I vow to let go of all worries and anxiety
in order to be light and free.

            - Thich Nhat Hanh

To see a world in a grain of sand
And heaven in a wildflower
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.

            - William Blake

God to enfold me, God to surround me,
God in my speaking, God in my thinking.
God in my sleeping, God in my waking,
God in my watching, God in my hoping.
God in my life, God in my lips,
God in my soul, God in my heart.
God in my sufficing, God in my slumber,
God in mine ever-living soul, God in mine serenity.

            - Gaelic Grace

Those who cannot see the face of Christ in the poor are atheists indeed.

            - Dorothy Day

You can become a Christian by going to church about as easily as you can
become a car by sleeping in a garage.

            - Garrison Keeler

Put your ear to the ground
and listen,
hurried, worried footsteps,
Bitterness, rebellion.
Hope
hasn’t yet begun.
Listen again.
Put out feelers.
The Lord is there.
He is far less likely
to abandon us
in hardship
than in times of ease.

            - Dom Helder Camara

Every thing we want is right here in the present moment.

            - Thich Nhat Hanh

That is perfect.  This is perfect.  Perfect comes from perfect.
Take perfect from perfect, the remainder is perfect.  May
peace and peace and peace be everywhere.

            - The Upanishads

There is a meaning in every journey that is unknown to the traveler.

            - Dietrich Bonnhoeffer

I slept
and I dreamed that life was all joy.
I woke
and I saw that life was but service.
I served
and understood that service was joy.

            - Rabindranath Tagore

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you.
And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.

            - Thomas Merton
