Cenacle Staff


Sr. Ann Wylder, r.c.
Community Leader
Sr. Ann was Novice Director twice, Provincial, Ministry Coordinator, House Coordinator, Provincial Secretary, and manager of the sacristy at the Chicago Cenacle Conference Center. She has been a member of the Ignatian Spirituality Project in Chicago, which offers retreats to homeless women and has lived and worked in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Warrenville, Illinois, the Longwood House in Chicago; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Wayzata, Minnesota. She has also been a retreat director and a spiritual director to many people over the years. Abilene, Kansas is the place of her birth, but she learned about the Cenacle Sisters when she was a social worker in Vancouver, British Columbia where she also attended retreats at the Vancouver Cenacle Retreat House. As a social worker, Sr. Ann could see that many of her clients also needed spiritual support. Therefore, she became a Cenacle Sister. After 49 years of devotion and dedication to the spiritual needs of others in other parts of the United States, Sr. Ann has come to the Metairie Cenacle, where she will continue to inspire those around her through her love of life, faith, and Community.

Sister Kathy Dunne, r.c.
Sr. Kathy Dunne, r.c.
A native of Long Island, New York, Sister Kathy Dunne, r.c., entered the Cenacle Congregation in 1980, after working as a Social Worker and a Vista Volunteer. She has a B.A. degree from the State University of New York College, an M.A. from Bowling Green University in Ohio, and a Master of Theological Studies and Certification in Spiritual Direction from Seattle University.


Sr. Gloria Haagensen, r.c.
 
Mininstry Coordinator
Sr. Gloria has lived at the Metairie Cenacle twice before: in 1967, for 6 months, right after making her first vows and from 1990 to 1993 while working for the Social Apostolate Office of the Archdiocese as a Headstart social worker in the Desire Housing Project. Sr. Gloria is originally from West St. Paul, Minnesota where she also grew up. She has a BA degree in Sociology from the College of St. Catherine and worked for two years as a social worker in the County Welfare Department, entering the Cenacle in 1964. After entering the Cenacle, she earned an MA degree in Religion and Education from St. Louis University.  This degree program included a strong emphasis on Family Systems Theory.  She also earned a Certificate in Training for Cross Cultural Ministry from the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. She has served as Ministry Coordinator in the Cenacles in Minneapolis (Wayzata), Minnesota and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and on the ministry team in several other Cenacles.  From 1979 to 1982, she was Director of Associates (the initial formation period for those entering the Cenacle, formerly know as postulants). In more recent years, her ministry has focused on outreach to those who are poor and marginalized in our society, bringing the Cenacle Charism to them in the context of their daily lives.  At various times in Chicago, she has worked as a supervisor in a refugee mental health program serving refugees from Cambodia, Vietnam, Eritrea, Romania, and Afghanistan.  She also worked in the social service department of a large Catholic Day Care Center, with a very multicultural population.  From 2000 to 2008, she lived and ministered in an inner city neighborhood on Chicago's Southside where she conducted a pastoral ministry and ministry of presence, predominantly among African-American and the English-speaking Hispanic populations.  Most recently, Sr. Gloria worked with two other Cenacle Sisters in South Florida to establish a continuing Cenacle presence there.


Sr. Dorothy Mennis, r.c.
Sr. Dorothy Mennis has had 40 years of experience as a spiritual director and a director of individual and group experiences of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.  She has served in Cenacle Retreat Houses in Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia.  She has also given Focusing Retreats and other programs of human and spiritual development and has taught and served as a supervisor in a training program for spiritual directors in Brentwood, New York. Sr. Dorothy has a BA from State University of New York at Stony Brook, an MA in Religious Studies from Manhattan College (Christian Brothers of de La Salle), and a certificate in training as a Spiritual Director from the Center for Spirituality and Justice - N.Y. She was a staff member of a three year training program for Spiritual Directors Training that began at the Ronkonkoma Cenacle twelve years ago and is now at the Spiritual Center of the Sisters of St. Joseph at Brentwood. At the Metairie Cenacle, Sr. Dorothy will assist with the Ministry Team, replacing Sr. Jackie Bates.


Sr. Kathy Scott, r.c.
Originally from the Atlantic coast of New York, Sr. Kathy calls Port Townsend, Washington in the Pacific Northwest, where her family lives, her home. Sr. Kathy has been a Sister of the Cenacle for 31 years and in September 2010 moved here after 13 wonderful years in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Sr. Kathy has Masters Degrees from California University in San Jose and Loyola University in Chicago. She loves ocean beaches, mountains, towering evergreens, music, imagery, and giving retreats to women. Sr. Kathy lived here years ago from 1987 to 1992, and made her Final Vows in the Chapel in 1989. She said, "It is good to be in New Orleans and again experience a people who faith in God supports them in the adversities of life, and whose spirit of celebration and hope are so clearly seen in their lives."


Sr. Mary Westhues, r.c.
Sr. Mary is a native of Missouri. She entered the Cenacle in 1951 and worked at the Metairie Cenacle from 1970-1972. Formerly, she was at the Lantana, Florida Cenacle. In Metairie, she is part of our Ministry Staff.

 
Ms. Deanna Amort
Finance Office Manager
Ms. Amort is the Finance Manager of the Cenacle Retreat House in Metairie, Louisiana and has been with the Cenacle since February 2002. She has a background in banking.


Mrs. Dianne Cenac
Hospitality Office Manager

Mrs. Cenac joined the Cenacle in November 2007. She has a background in teaching and a Master's degree in Counseling.  "It's easy to welcome and serve Hospitality groups at the Cenacle because I believe in what happens here: the transformative power of God reaches each person and group exactly where they are. It's profound and real. I see it in the faces of people as they leave. My many years as a homemaker best prepared me to welcome others into this sacred 'home', the Cenacle."


Ms. Susan Halligan
Ministry/Retreat Office Manager

Ms. Halligan has been employed at the Cenacle Retreat House since May 2001.  She handles the preparation of 30 retreats and any workshops during the calendar year. This includes taking reservations/deposits, arranging musicians and Spiritual Directors for each retreat. She stays in close contact with the Captains of each retreat to help ensure the house fills. She also handles any private/directed retreat requests. Before coming to the Cenacle, she was a Customer Service Representative for a cellular company. 


Mrs. Sue Nolan Klein
Prayer Enrollment Office Manager

From 1996 to 2006, Mrs. Klein was the Hospital manager at 2 veterinary hospitals. In November 2006, she joined the Cenacle as Prayer Enrollment Office Manager. She provides and leads customer service clerks and calligraphers in providing friendly, pleasant, and helpful service to all those who access the office. She is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the business area of the office and staff.


Mr. Wade LeBrun
Facilities Manager
Mr. Wade LeBrun oversees the day-to-day operations at the retreat house.  He has over 20 years experience in supervising maintenance crews, estimating labor and material costs, and planning and coordinating construction/installation projects. He formerly worked at Tulane University Medical Center. He has been with the Cenacle Retreat House since 1997.


Mrs. Christin Hron Trusheim
Director of Development and Public Relations

Mrs. Trusheim joined the Cenacle in January 2011.  Not only does she raise funds for the Cenacle through special events and grant writing, she also creates and distributes all the Cenacle's marketing pieces, such as newsletters and advertisements.  "I feel blessed to be a part of such a wonderful organization.  I am able to do the work I have always wanted to do for a mission I believe in and respect."
