Stitching the Spiritual Into Our Winter Hearts: Nurturing the Seeds of Our Gifts
We will find God in the ordinary as we discover our hidden gifts. We will experience prayer and
meditation while stitching and learning to be aware of God's presence in every day tasks and
all types of hand-stitching.
Marlene Ortego, is a retired Religious Educator, Cenacle Affiliate, retreat presenter and
retreatant. Mary Taylor is a Cenacle Auxiliary as well as a retreatant, captain, lector and
certified catechist.

Daring the Dream: Faith, Friendship & Forgiveness
Come journey with Jesus as we explore the nature of our own call to be faithful followers of
Christ, deepen our relationship with God and widen our withness in the world.

Our culture seduces us into believing that satisfying the self will bring fulfillment. God and our
Church teach us that we are called to be in relationship with God and others. This tension will
be explored with a special focus on the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist and
Penance - all encounters with Christ in the community of the Church.

We will focus on contemplative prayer using the book series by Thomas Merton,
"Bridges to Contemplative Living."
Rev. Keith Hosey, priest and gifted retreat director, served as Co-Director of John XXIII

Metairie Cenacle, is pastor of St. Francis Xavier Church in St. Louis, Missouri and has ministered

Lenten Day of Prayer: Drawing Closer to Jesus with Mary at the Cross
Sometimes the mystery of the cross is the only thing that makes sense out of our suffering.
Mary was never closer to her son than in his suffering and death. Come and pray with Mary
at the Cross. (9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.) Suggested Offering: $35
Sr. Kathy Scott, rc, has been a Cenacle Sister for 31 years and recently moved here after 13 years
in Vancouver.  Sr. Kathy has Masters Degrees from San Jose University and Loyola University in Chicago.

MARCH 30-APRIL 1 (PALM SUNDAY)
Elemental Christianity: Embracing the Way of Air, Fire, Water & Earth
Befriending the four elements is a way to honor the incarnational and sacramental
dimensions of our faith. Taking on the qualities of the elements, we will be transformed
into creative disciples and apostles of the Good News.
Rev. Philip Chircop, SJ, has advanced degrees in Pastoral Theology, Communications and
Spirituality. He is mainly involved in retreat work and spiritual direction. Rev. Philip likes to
explore and employ new, fresh and creative ways to proclaim the Good News.

A Couples Evening at the Cenacle
Helping Each Other to Find God in All Things -> Examen: An Ignatian approach to
sharing with each other the events of the day within the context of faith.

The Beatitudes: Key to Peace & Healing in the Worst of Times
The most difficult Christian doctrine is neither the Trinity nor the Resurrection but the Beatitudes -
that we are to be happy when poor, mourning, insulted, persecuted and suffering injustice. We will look
at how Jesus, others and ourselves have lived the reality of each beatitude so the gift of each grows within.

Rev. Anthony O. Ewherido, a popular retreat presenter in both the New York and New Orleans
Cenacles, is a priest in the Catholic Diocese of Warri, Nigeria, and head of the Department of
Theology at the Regional Seminary, SS. Peter and Paul Seminary, Bodija, Ibadan, Nigeria. He
spends his summers working at a parish on Long Island.

CENACLE HOME RETREAT

The Cenacle Home Retreat, based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola and Scripture, is an
opportunity to grow in one’s prayer life and to deepen one’s personal relationship with the Lord. Groups of
8 to 12 persons meet in private homes for two hours once a week for ten weeks, under the guidance of trained
facilitators. The Cenacle Home Retreat is open to all who are willing to pray at least fifteen minutes a day on the
suggested prayer materials. Offering: $65/per person covers cost of materials. No one will be excluded because

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

Cenacle Directors, trained for this spiritual ministry, offer you the opportunity to reflect with another about
how you are growing in your relationship with God, manifested in prayer and everyday living.  Arrangements
are made through the Retreat Office, a Sister, or lay Director throughout the year.  Please discuss the suggested
offering amount with your Spiritual Director.

DIRECTED RETREATS

Directed Retreats are individual retreats during which you meet with a trained Spiritual Director who assists
you in recognizing God’s presence and action in your life and in your retreat. Some previous retreat experience
or Spiritual Direction is recommended. The offering for room and board is $55 per day and an additional offering
for Spiritual Direction is suggested. Arrangements are made through the Retreat Office at (504) 887-1420, ext 225.

DAY OF PRAYER      

Reflect, pray, and seek a renewed presence of God in your life with/without a Cenacle Sister or lay Spiritual
Director. The offering is $35 with lunch or $55 if overnight. An additional offering for Spiritual Direction is

CENACLE PRAYER ENROLLMENT

The mission of the Cenacle is comprised of three interrelated elements: Prayer, Ministry and Community
Life. Prayer, as is true for all of us, is directed to deepening our relationship with God and surrendering to
God's will. Another important aspect of prayer in the Cenacle is interceding for the needs of our world, the
Church adn those who entrust their intentions to us. Anyone living or deceased may be enrolled.  Cenacle
Prayer Enrollment is ideal for an individual or group who wishes to share the joy of a special event, to give
comfort and prayer support during illness or crisis or to express sympathy for the loss of a loved one.
