Quotes

"From the moment I stepped out of my car, I felt immersed in the peace that is the Cenacle. I wasn't sure what I was looking for but now I understand it was just being able to set aside my daily baggage and just be. I expected peace and quiet but didn't realize how encompassing it would be for body, mind and spirit, the Spiritual Direction, Massage, Art Cove, Liturgical Services, the food, and the great hospitality."

Garden Pathways

Retreatants will find sacred spaces ideal for prayer and meditation. Whether it is listening to the gentle gurgling of a fountain, walking the labyrinth, relaxing in a swing or hammock, meandering along the pathways throughout the grounds, or walking the Stations of the Cross and the new Stations of Light, the setting is conducive to opening one’s heart and mind to God. Cenacle guests also have a private access gate to the scenic paths of the Terry Hershey Park for long walks or runs.

Location, Location, Location

Located at 420 North Kirkwood Rd, between Memorial and Briar Forest with easy access from Interstate 10, Beltway 8, and the Westpark Tollway, the Cenacle Retreat House is bound on both sides by bayous – a natural separation from the outside world. You can easily withdraw from the chaos of the city as you become surrounded by nature on these nine wooded acres with trails for walks and quiet and peace that affects all who enter... a sanctuary away from the rush of the world.

Accommodations

The house offers private overnight accommodations with no phones, televisions or outside distractions; and, the two dorm style wings with 24 rooms each also provide smaller intimate areas for indoor meditation and gathering. Our bathrooms are shared (with a private sink area in each room). Linens and towels are provided. Separate dining rooms are available for those attending group retreats and for private retreatants to maintain a prayerful atmosphere to suit all needs. We offer chef prepared meals including continental or full breakfast, lunch, and dinner depending on arrival and departure times.

Hospitality Groups

The Cenacle grounds and retreat facilities are available for use by church staffs, school groups, and the wider ecumenical nonprofit community – what we refer to as our Hospitality Groups. The Cenacle is open to these hospitality groups on weekdays, evenings and some weekends. The Meeting Hall can accommodate up to 80 people. The library is a cozier setting for smaller groups of about 25. The Casita can host groups of 20-25 and is located on the back of the property. Also available is a classroom with tables that can accommodate 20 people. Additionally, the North Conference Room is ideal for an intimate group of 8 to 10 people. Any of the four private parlors lend themselves well for individual spiritual direction or small gatherings of 3-8 people. Wifi is available in our main meeting spaces and audio/visual equipment is installed.
For more information about scheduling your group at the Cenacle, contact hospitality@cenacleretreathouse.org.

Cenacle Book Store

The Cenacle Book Store offers books for purchase by a wide variety of noted spiritual authors and music, both of which may enhance and continue your retreat experience, feed your spiritual growth and allow you to share with others the wisdom of some of our retreat leaders, many of whom are authors. The book store is open to the public daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m (3:00 p.m. on Sundays).
