South Florida Associates Use their Imaginations to Celebrate the Feast of St. Ignatius.
On Sunday, July 31st, several of the South Florida Associates, two Auxiliaries and a guest, gathered in person to celebrate the Feast of St. Ignatius. Each brought a delicious snack and beverages were on hand to add to the day’s festivities.
During the initial hour of the meeting, everyone present had the opportunity to share her personal experience about encountering St. Ignatius. Some related stories about the Ignatian exercises while others spoke about his life, the Jesuit influence and various ways St. Ignatius touched their lives. It was easy to see how the wisdom and teachings of St. Ignatius continue to harness the power of his inspirational energy to the present day.
Following this joyful conversation and a break for refreshments, together we created a lively collage depicting St. Ignatius along with his prayers and quotes. It had been requested that each of us bring a favorite image, prayer or memorabilia to add to the collage. As we layered the elements onto the board, cutting and gluing, we felt the spirit of our dear Ignatius guiding our hands and imagination.
Truly, the making of the collage was a sacred prayer; Ignatius would have been proud.
The enthusiasm for this creative endeavor was so high that we have unused material and plan to create another collage at our September meeting! If you’re interested in learning more about Cenacle Associates or Auxiliaries please email ministry@cenaclesisters.org.
